DIRECTOR'S NOTE

I did not anticipate spending the majority of this year directing romantic farces, but I will say that they have grown on me.  Lend Me A Soprano is a particularly ambitious production involving operatic arias, intimacy, fast-paced & complex blocking, & SO. MANY. DOORS!  That said, I’ve come to really love this production – in no small part due to the wonderful cast I’ve had the privilege of working with for the past two months. They are all so unique and bring so much to the table both as performers and in their willingness to work, help where needed, and support each other – including myself.

While I hope that you laugh until you can’t breathe, I will share the creative lens that I spoke to the cast about in our first rehearsal: “Find the real in the ridiculous.” Don’t be fooled – this play IS ridiculous.  And so are these actors…I’m looking at you, Jonathon… , I am of the full belief that even in the most ridiculous scenarios, we can find that window where art imitates life.  Farce can be more than hilarious – it can be sweet, sexy, heartbreaking, and inspiring.

What I hope you find beyond the belly-laughs is the story I have come to love: one of self-actualization.  A story of finding & embracing parts of your identity that you didn’t know were there or were too scared to live into, owning the power you’ve always had, letting love and music entice us to enjoy the present without looking ahead or behind, and…just maybe…discovering what you thought you were missing was in front of you, or in you, all along.

Her most recent roles include “Matron” in GULAG GIRLS (KC Fringe 2024, Best in Venue, Best Play – KC Pitch), “Mom” in KISSING IN THE GROCERY STORE (Nominated Best Supporting Actor, BWW) “Willow” in PRIDE AND PRECIPICE, and other local film projects including a social spot with Trey Kennedy this spring.

Victoria Ricci
Jo

Victoria Ricci (Jo) is elated to be back on the Bell Road Barn Stage in a show about one of her passions: opera. Recently, Victoria has performed with the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre in The Long Christmas Dinner and in Book of Days, as well as with OCTA in Musical of Musicals:The Musical. Victoria is a classically trained soprano, earning her master’s degree from The University of Akron. She has sung with the KC chapter of Opera on Tap in their production of Suor Angelica and their Maifest recitals. Victoria was a member of the KC symphony chorus in their 2022-2023 season.

Laura LaCour
Lucille Wylie

Laura is super jazzed to be part of this ensemble of awesome people, and it’s always a good time when she acts with her husband. Her last theatre venture was right here, directing 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche. She’s been involved in community theatre wherever she’s lived, and been lucky to be a part of so many memorable productions. Some past roles include: Roz and Charlotte (Moon Over Buffalo–different productions, 27 years apart-ha!), Patsy Cline (Always, Patsy Cline), Frenchie (Grease), Latrelle (Sordid Lives), Maggie (The Shadowbox), and Maria (Lend Me a Tenor). Some of Laura’s directing projects include Ripcord, Aida, Shrek, The Miss Firecracker Contest, God of Carnage, I Hate Hamlet, Educating Rita, and Fox On the Fairway. She’s also written for the Christmas shows here at Bell Road and for the 2nd Act Players with Robidoux Resident Theatre. She extends her sincerest thanks to you for being here today, supporting live theatre.

Melanie Montambeault
Elena Firenzi

Melanie reentered the theater scene in 2014 while living in Germany after her husband asked if she could step in for a fellow actor who could no long play a part. Since then, Melanie has been in The Addams Family (Alice), The Christmas Carol (Ghost of Christmas Present), Baby: The Musical (Pam), The Dixie Swim Club (Jeri Neal), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (wife), four Little Theater of Weston concerts, and Little Theater of Weston’s production of The Lost Virginity Tour (Viola). When she’s not on stage, she’s volunteering at her church and kids’ schools, crocheting, and caring for her husband, two girls, a cat and a hound dog.

Corey Williams
Jerry

Corey is making his return to the Bell Road Barn Players as Jerry Wylie in ‘Lend Me A Soprano’. He previously played Snetsky in last season’s production of ‘Fools’, and has performed in other productions such as ‘Into The Woods’, ‘Psycho Beach Party’, and ‘The Crucible’. He’s excited to share the stage with his husband, Adrian, and would like to thank you all for your continued support!

Chris LaCour
Leo

During the Covid lockdown Chris spent an inordinate amount of time learning how to solve a Rubix cube, use nun-chucks, and pick locks using a brand new set of lockpicks he ordered from Amazon. These skills probably helped him with preparing to play a Dutch tenor whose promiscuity is only second to his sense of Farfekgnugen. Leo knows that this is a Volkswagon thing, but C’mon. THOSE THINGS ROCK! You may have seen Chris recently as the Judge in ‘And Then There Were None’, as The Creature in Frankenstein, and FBI man number 2 in You Can’t Take it With You. Chris is clearly like… CRAZY versatile. And tall. Chris is tall.

Amelia Trollinger
Julia Leverett

Amelia Trollinger is thrilled to be part of this talented and hilarious cast. She is a KC native who began attending workshops at the Actor Training Studio four years ago on a wine-inspired whim. Since then, she has fallen in love with the craft and the KC film and theater community. Amelia made her stage debut during KC Fringe 2024 in “The Cardboard Knight.” In 2025, she portrayed “MOM” in “Sticks and Stones,” which was awarded the “Most Moving” play for KC Fringe and nominated “Best Play in Kansas City” by The Pitch. Most recently, she portrayed Ann Putnam and Sara Good in “The Crucible” at Arts Asylum. She spends her free time FaceTiming her daughter in college, having adventures with her partner, Philip, and cuddling her dog and cats.

Adrian Williams
Bellhop

A Kansas City native, Adrian is making his on-stage debut as the Bellhop in Lend Me a Soprano, and is excited to be working with Bell Road Barn Players this summer season. He has tech experience, working on props and costumes for shows such as ‘Harvey’ and ‘The Crucible’, as well as ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, along with set work for ‘Singin’ In the Rain’. He would like to thank his husband, Corey as well as his friends and family for their support and encouragement, as well as your support for the Bell Road Barn Players!

Jonathon Engle
Pasquale Firenzi

The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Jonathon, was to act. THAT is why I am Pasquale.
