Callbacks by invitation only Saturday May 10th
Rehearsals will begin May 27th and will run Sundays – Thursdays.
Production dates July 18th – June 27nd
Auditions will be open call—no appointment time needed. Please arrive as close to the start time as possible and be prepared to stay for the entire timeframe. Auditioners may be released throughout the day as the director sees fit. If you are unable to stay the entire duration of the audition, please notify the director or stage manager upon arrival and we will do our best to accommodate your schedule restrictions. You only need to attend one day of auditions.
Auditions will consist of cold reads from the script. You will be partnered with other auditioners and read several scenes throughout the afternoon.
Headshots & prepared monologues are welcome, but are NOT REQUIRED.

– A pen or pencil (to fill out your audition form)
– Your list of conflicts between May 27 th to July 27 th
– Clothes which allow movement
– A good attitude and willingness to have fun!
Synopsis
Welcome to Kulyenchikov (cool-YEN-chi-koff), a town cursed with idiocy. Here, we meet several of the townsfolk, all leading their simple lives. Enter Leon, a schoolteacher tasked with educating Sophia Zubritsky– the direct descendant of the Curse of Kulyenchikov. If Leon can educate her within 24 hours, the curse will be lifted! If he can’t, Leon will also fall victim to the curse.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
LEON* – An optimistic schoolteacher, arriving to Kulyenchikov to help educate Sophia. Frequently addresses the audience in his monologues. This character will share a kiss with SOPHIA.
DR. ZUBRITSKY— (zoo-BRIT-skee) Father to SOPHIA and the town doctor.
LENYA ZUBRITSKY—Mother to SOPHIA. Easily excitable.
SOPHIA— Daughter of the Zubritskys. Observant and astute in her own way. This character will share a kiss with LEON.
COUNT GREGOR YOUSEKEVITCH*—{yew-SUCK-a-vitch) The main antagonist and descendant of Vladimir Yousekevitch who placed the curse upon the town. He regularly proposes to SOPHIA in hopes of marrying her and lifting the curse. This character can be performed by an actor of any gender.
SNETSKY* —Town shepherd and first townsperson introduced. Has a habit of losing his sheep. This character can be performed by an actor of any gender.
SLOVICH* —Town butcher. Worried he may not be smart even without the curse.
MISHKIN* —Postman of the town. States the obvious frequently. This character can be performed by an actor of any gender.
YENCHNA* —Town vendor. Saleswoman through and through. She will say anything she needs to sell her wares. This character can be performed by an actor of any gender.
MAGISTRATE—The judicial officer of Kulyenchikov. This character can be performed by an actor of any gender.
