Due to increased public health concerns and after careful consideration, we have decided to postpone our performances of       Men On Boats.   After consulting with our valued partner, Park University, we feel that this is the best decision for the safety of our patrons, cast and crew members. A college campus involves a lot of people in close quarters, and with current health concerns, public safety is everyone’s first priority. We hope that we will be able to reschedule soon. If you have already purchased tickets to Men On Boats, a Bell Road board member will be in contact with you to discuss if you would like a refund or exchange for a future production. We are heartbroken for our hard-working cast and crew, but we are optimistic that performances will be able to happen at a later date.

Bell Road Barn Players  is excited to present our Spring 2020 play “Men On Boats” by Jaclyn Backhaus.

Adventure, bravery and humorous absurdity…led by an all-female cast, Men on Boats is the true-ish story of John Wesley Powell’s expedition of the Colorado River in 1869.  Guided by a one-armed captain, the outlandish but loyal crew encounters various disasters, conflicts and harrowing adventures along the way.  Spinning historical, theatrical, and gender conventions on their heads, this subversive tale of ten men, four boats, and two rivers contains none of the above.
